Edgewater, Colorado – A year has passed since the tragic shooting death of Adam Fresquez near a Tesla charging station in Edgewater. Family and friends gathered to commemorate his life with a mass and a symbolic dove release.
Reflecting on the loss, Adam’s mother, Lena Fresquez Mendez, expressed the enduring pain of his absence. Despite the passage of time, the grief remains as raw as ever for those who loved Adam. The fatal confrontation between Fresquez and another individual at the Tesla charging station on May 3, 2023, resulted in tragedy when Fresquez was shot twice in the back. After seven months, the suspect, Jeremy Smith, was apprehended in December and is facing charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter.
Currently incarcerated at the Jefferson County Jail on a $150,000 bail, Smith is scheduled for arraignment on May 20. The legal proceedings bring a measure of closure for Adam’s loved ones, who continue to grapple with the aftermath of his untimely death.
