Tragedy: Hollywood Man Kills Brother’s Sons Before Taking His Own Life

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. – A tragic incident in Broward County has left a family devastated as a father, Anthony “Tony” Wierzba, took the lives of his two nephews before ending his own. The shooting occurred on Thursday afternoon on McKinley Street near 53 Avenue in Hollywood, where the two young victims, Alex, 15, and Richard, 21, were shot by their uncle.

Anthony, 53, had co-owned Anthony’s Towing & Recovery but had not been working and was living with the boys and his mother. The Hollywood Police Department responded to the scene and found the three males shot around 4:20 p.m. One of the victims was pronounced dead, while the other two were rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood for treatment.

The Wierzba family has been struck with tragedy, as Anthony’s brother, Richard, also passed away years before in 2010. The boys’ grandmother, Tina Wierzba, had already been grieving the loss of her son before the devastating events unfolded. The community has come together to support the family, with AEF Schools organizing a fundraiser to assist with their needs.

The 26-year-old father, Richard, would have turned 40 on September 11, but instead, his young sons are fighting for their lives. Alex, a 9th-grade student at AEF Schools, was placed on life support without brain activity, while Richard remains in critical condition. The family is facing an unimaginable loss, and detectives are urging anyone with information to come forward to help with the investigation.

The heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock as they grapple with the senseless loss of two young lives. The Wierzba family is being surrounded by support as they navigate this tragedy, with hopes for healing and justice in the wake of such a devastating event. Despite the pain and grief, the family is not alone in their time of need, as friends, relatives, and the community stand by their side during this difficult time.
