Abduction & Brutal Assault: Man Who Subjected Victim to 21-Hour Ordeal Jailed

Aberdeen, Scotland – A man in Aberdeen, Scotland was sentenced to 12 years in prison for abducting and brutally assaulting a woman over a span of more than 21 hours. Leslie Jackson, 38, left his victim with 54 separate injuries after the vicious attack on July 30, 2022.

Despite a young child being present during the ordeal, Jackson repeatedly punched the woman in the face until she lost consciousness. Upon regaining consciousness, he proceeded to strangle her and repeatedly hit her with a knife. The assailant even threatened the woman with a ‘Chelsea smile’ by holding the weapon across her mouth.

The victim managed to escape the following afternoon by jumping from a ground floor window with a makeshift tourniquet wrapped around her leg. Jackson appeared in the High Court in Glasgow on May 8, 2024, where he admitted to charges of abduction, assault causing severe injury, permanent disfigurement, and endangering life.

He received an extended sentence of 12 years, with eight of those years to be served in custody, at the High Court in Glasgow on June 5, 2024. Moira Orr, who oversees homicide and major crime for the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, expressed sympathy for the victim and her loved ones, acknowledging the lasting trauma that such violence can inflict.

Orr condemned Jackson’s violent actions as horrific and abhorrent, emphasizing the commitment to prosecuting such crimes that tarnish society. She encouraged all victims and witnesses of similar offenses to come forward, report their experiences, and seek support to break the cycle of violence.

The case serves as a grim reminder of the impact of domestic violence on survivors, families, and the community at large. Jackson’s sentencing represents a step towards justice for the victim and sends a message that such violent acts will not be tolerated in society.
