Cambridge, England — A 54-year-old man has been sentenced to more than four years in prison following a violent attack on a 50-year-old victim, which was captured on surveillance cameras. Steven Holland received a sentence of four years and two months for wounding with intent during a hearing at Cambridge Crown Court.
The incident occurred on January 29, when the victim arrived at a property near Tenison Road to visit a friend. Instead of a friendly encounter, he became the target of a brutal assault. Prosecutors described how Holland unleashed a barrage of punches, kicks, and knife strikes against the visitor.
Initial claims made by Holland suggested that he attempted to help the victim, but the reality revealed by the CCTV footage contradicted this narrative. The video showed him dragging the victim into a secluded area, continuing the attack even as the man attempted to escape.
The physical toll on the victim was severe, with injuries including a broken nose, two black eyes, and broken ribs, as well as multiple knife wounds to his face and neck. Following the assault, he required medical treatment at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.
Detective Constable Morgan French commented on the court’s decision, emphasizing the seriousness of the offense. “This was a sustained and violent attack which left a man with serious injuries,” he said, expressing hope that with Holland incarcerated, the victim could begin healing from the trauma.
