Chicago Shootings Leave 10 Injured, 2 Dead Over Weekend Spree

Chicago, Illinois – Over the weekend, a wave of violence in Chicago led to at least 10 people being shot, with two of them tragically losing their lives as a result. Among the incidents, a 55-year-old man was fatally shot in the West Englewood neighborhood on Saturday morning. The victim was targeted by gunfire while on South Ashland Avenue, succumbing to his injuries at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

In another incident, a 34-year-old man was shot while driving in the South Loop area after someone in a silver sedan opened fire on him. Despite being wounded in the knee, the victim managed to drive himself to a nearby hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, police are actively searching for the shooter responsible for the attack.

The violence continued with a robbery turned shooting in Bronzeville, where a 20-year-old man was robbed and shot in the knee by an unknown assailant. The victim was rushed to the University of Chicago Hospital in stable condition. Detectives from Area One are currently investigating the incident.

Tragically, late Friday night, a 37-year-old man lost his life after being shot multiple times in the University Village neighborhood. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity, but three male suspects are believed to be behind the fatal shooting.

Additionally, a shooting inside a bar in Washington Park left two men injured and a woman with cuts from broken glass. One of the male victims remains in critical condition while the other victims are in stable condition. Law enforcement officials have identified the shooter but have not yet made an arrest in connection with the incident.

Last weekend, the city of Chicago saw a significant increase in gun violence, with at least 33 people being shot, seven of them fatally. This concerning trend underscores the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing and preventing violent crimes in the city.
