One resident, Burl Haigwood, described the terrifying moment he hit the ground, rolled, and sought refuge behind a tree while pretending to be lifeless. Haigwood, who was on his way to purchase a lottery ticket when the chaos unfolded, expressed gratitude for escaping unscathed. Another resident, Shannon Fyfe, was inside her vehicle when the gunfire erupted. She recounted how two bullets struck her car, highlighting the dangers posed by such senseless acts of violence.
