Meeker Street Bar & Grill Shooting Leads to Murder Charge Against Defendant

Seattle, Washington – The King County Prosecuting Attorneys Office has filed a Murder in the 2nd Degree charge against Daniel Suesue, a 25-year-old from Spanaway, for the fatal shooting that occurred on May 2 at the Meeker Street Bar & Grill.

The victim, 30-year-old Roderick Loi Belford, was shot and killed during an altercation at the bar. The incident, which initially started as a physical fight without weapons, escalated when Suesue used a Springfield XD 9mm pistol to fatally shoot Belford.

According to charging documents, the sequence of events leading to the shooting unfolded as follows: there was a verbal altercation inside the bar between Suesue and Belford, which resulted in Belford being escorted out. A fight later broke out in the parking lot involving Suesue, Belford, and other patrons. Suesue was then seen holding a firearm behind his back before ultimately shooting Belford.

Despite efforts to save him, Belford succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, including two to the head. Video evidence captured the moments leading up to the shooting, showing Suesue aiming at Belford inside the bar. Suesue is accused of causing Belford’s death while committing Assault in the Second Degree with the intent to kill.

Suesue is scheduled for arraignment on May 20 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent. The police recovered two pistols, including the Springfield XD 9mm used in the shooting, from the scene. The prosecution is pursuing Murder in the 2nd Degree charges against Suesue in connection with Belford’s tragic death at the bar.
