Murder Indictment Issued for Man Accused of Killing Marlboro Resident

FREEHOLD, NJ – A grand jury has indicted Carl A. Richards, 39, on one count of first-degree murder in connection with the New Year’s Day killing of 64-year-old George L. Mott III in Marlboro. Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago made the announcement regarding the case, which involved Richards and his family residing with Mott at the time of the incident.

Mott was found unresponsive in his armchair on January 1, with severe trauma to his head, face, and neck, leading to his death. Richards faces additional charges of endangering the welfare of a child due to his three children being present during the attack. The children detailed the violent scene they witnessed, highlighting the relationship Mott had with them as a grandfather figure.
