Roofing Contractor Sentenced for Brutal Assault on Woman, Leaving Her Drifting in and out of Consciousness

Horsham, England – A roofer from Horsham, England, has been sentenced to three years and seven months in prison for a violent assault on a woman, leaving her with significant injuries that required hospital treatment. The woman, in her 40s, reported the sustained assault on the night of August 15 and the morning of August 16, after being repeatedly attacked by Sam Everitt during a journey from Croydon to Horsham. Everitt, 34, was arrested on October 18, following weeks of investigation and tracking.

During the assault, the victim was left drifting in and out of consciousness on multiple occasions. Everitt, who had no fixed address, was charged with Section 20 grievous bodily harm and appeared before the Chichester Crown Court, where he pleaded guilty. In addition to his prison sentence, he was also given a five-year restraining order against the victim and ordered to pay a victim surcharge.

Detective Constable Dan Griffiths described the attack as distressing and prolonged, emphasizing the serious injuries sustained by the victim. Griffiths commended the collaborative efforts of the investigative teams, which led to Everitt being swiftly charged and remanded for court within nine hours of his arrest.
