BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — A shooting in Birmingham on Saturday afternoon left one teenager dead and another injured, prompting an ongoing investigation by local authorities.
According to the Birmingham Police Department, officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert around 3:15 p.m. in Ensley Park. While en route, officers discovered two male gunshot victims in a vehicle parked at Birmingham Fire Station No. 16.
The deceased was identified as 18-year-old Myca Clark Jr. from McCalla. He was transported to UAB Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The condition of the second victim, who received on-site treatment, has not been disclosed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Clark and his companion were with another group of males at Ensley Park when the shooting occurred. Witnesses reported seeing one suspect fire a weapon before fleeing the scene on foot, accompanied by several others.
Detectives were able to locate one of the suspects after receiving tips from the community, leading to an arrest at a nearby residence. The suspect was subsequently taken to Birmingham City Jail and is currently being held under a 48-hour felony extension for further questioning.
