Shooting on I-20 Highway in Greenwood Leaves One Dead in Road Rage Incident

CADDO PARISH, La. – Tragedy struck on Interstate 20 in Louisiana as emergency crews rushed to the scene of a fatal road rage shooting on Tuesday morning. The incident, which unfolded near the U.S. Highway 80 interchange, led to the loss of a man’s life as confirmed by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Capt. Bobby Herring, overseeing the criminal investigations division, stated that the shooting likely originated from a heated exchange between a tractor-trailer driver and an individual in a dark-colored Acura SUV. The confrontation escalated as both drivers pulled over onto the interstate ramp in Greenwood and exited their vehicles.

The situation turned grave when the driver of the SUV pursued the truck driver, ultimately resulting in a fatal outcome. Authorities revealed that the victim, believed to be a non-local, remains unidentified pending notification of next of kin. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV fled the scene, heading west on I-20 towards Texas.

Efforts to locate the driver of the SUV are underway, with multiple agencies collaborating on the search. Investigative work includes obtaining dash camera footage from two other truckers who witnessed the tragic event.
