EAST MARLBOROUGH, Pa. – A tragic shooting incident has left two individuals dead and an elderly man in custody on Friday, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The names of the deceased have not been disclosed, and an investigation is currently underway.
Roger Hanks, a retired school teacher and former DuPont employee, faced charges of first-degree murder and related offenses in connection with the shooting. He was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Albert Iacocca of Kennett Square and is being held without bail at Chester County Prison.
This unfortunate event occurred in the serene township of East Marlborough, where Longwood Gardens is situated. Coincidentally, it marks the second anniversary of another double homicide within the area.
State Trooper John Pisker reported that troopers from the Avondale barracks responded to a shooting at a residence in the 200 block of Wiltshire Drive around 6:15 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival, they found the suspect, a 76-year-old man, in the garage and took him into custody.
Inside the home, two victims were found with fatal gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities assuring the public that there is no immediate danger to others.
