After the attack, the victim was rushed to the hospital, where doctors initially feared for his life. He spent several days in the intensive care unit, undergoing treatment for his injuries. His mother described the harrowing experience, mentioning that doctors had to insert a tube in his chest to drain blood from his lungs.
The mother believes that the attack was racially and homophobic motivated, as the perpetrators shouted slurs while assaulting her son. She also suspects that the attack may have been a gang initiation, based on references made by the attackers in the video. The disturbing footage has now circulated among high schools in Hawthorne and nearby communities.
Looking to protect her son, Frankie is considering relocating her family to a safer area. She expressed concern about the attackers still being at large and potentially targeting her son again. An investigation into the attack is ongoing by the Los Angeles Police Department, who are aware of the video evidence.
