LARCHMONT, LOS ANGELES – A man in Larchmont, Los Angeles, experienced a horrifying attack outside his home resulting in the severing of his ear. Jesus Balderas Alfaro underwent intense surgery to reattach his ear after being violently slashed. The scars from the surgery visibly narrate the brutal path of the attack on his face and skull.
Alfaro, 31, was startled by a noise outside of his home on Raleigh Street in the early hours of Monday. In a twist of fate, just weeks before this incident, thieves had stolen all the tires from his car. Upon investigation, Alfaro found his windshield smashed and encountered the suspect, who seemed to be homeless, before he disappeared.
Recalling the moment of the attack, Alfaro shared, “I went to go see the damage, and I turned my back this way, and he was walking away from me.” Suddenly, he felt a punch and his skin ripping as the suspect pulled back his hand. The gruesome sound haunted Alfaro, causing him immense trauma.
The knife wounds inflicted on Alfaro extended from the top of his cheekbone, through his ear, and to the back of his skull, narrowly missing any life-threatening areas. Following the attack, he underwent a critical surgery to save his ear and begin the recovery process. A GoFundMe campaign has been initiated to aid in his recovery following this vicious assault.
Concerns have emerged regarding the possibility of this random attack being linked to other recent stabbing incidents, prompting the LAPD to investigate further. Alfaro is determined to warn the public to remain vigilant and alert, fearing that the suspect could strike again without hesitation.
