Violent Surprise Attack and Robbery Caught on Surveillance Video in Chicago’s Bucktown Neighborhood

Chicago, Illinois – Chicago police are currently investigating a vicious assault and robbery that occurred in broad daylight in the Bucktown neighborhood. Surveillance footage captured the incident at 2:55 p.m. on Monday in the 2000 block of North Damen.

The video shows two male suspects assaulting a 33-year-old man in the alleyway. The attackers proceeded to beat the man while he was lying on the ground, eventually taking his personal belongings before fleeing the scene on foot.

In the footage, one of the suspects can be seen wearing a face and head covering, while the victim is shown walking down the alley, eating a slice of pizza before being ambushed by the assailants. The attackers viciously beat the man and dragged him to the other side of the alley, against garbage cans, causing the victim to scream in distress.

Although initial reports indicated no injuries, the victim was later transported to a nearby hospital and is currently listed in stable condition. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

This attack adds to a concerning trend of armed and violent robberies across various neighborhoods in Chicago. Incidents have been reported on college campuses, in Lincoln Park, Garfield Park, Irving Park, downtown, and beyond. In one particularly alarming case, employees at an AT&T store near Bucktown were held at gunpoint and robbed of cell phones and electronics after being bound with zip ties.

The unsettling rise in criminal activity in Chicago has left residents on edge, prompting authorities to increase vigilance and explore measures to ensure public safety. Police continue to investigate the recent spate of robberies, hoping to bring the perpetrators to justice and prevent further harm to the community.
