Walmart Shooting Tragedy: 19-Year-Old Man Killed, 9-Year-Old Girl Injured in Fayette County Incident

FAYETTEVILLE, Ga. – Tragedy struck a Walmart store in Fayetteville, Georgia, as a 19-year-old man lost his life and a 9-year-old girl was injured in a shooting on Friday night. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. in the entryway of the Walmart on Pavillion Parkway. Authorities found the victims, Antavius Holton and the young girl, with gunshot wounds upon arrival at the scene.

The suspected shooter, identified as 19-year-old Adrian Jelks, was reported to be an employee of the Walmart. Holton and the injured girl were rushed to the hospital for treatment, where sadly, Holton succumbed to his injuries. Fortunately, the young girl is in stable condition. The City of Fayetteville Public Safety reassured the public that the shooting was not an active-shooter situation and did not appear to be a random act of violence.

According to authorities, Jelks fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later found abandoned. The search for Jelks continued into the following day, with investigators working tirelessly to track him down. In the midst of the investigation, Sandra Romero-Nunez, 19, was arrested on pending warrants related to the crimes of murder and aggravated assault. It remains unclear what role Romero-Nunez played in the tragic incident at the Walmart.
