Rathmore, Ireland – Scoil Phobail Sliabh Luachra in Rathmore, Ireland, is gearing up to celebrate a milestone in their educational journey – 25 years of excellence. Founded in 1998 as a result of the merger between St. Mary’s Secondary School and Rathmore Vocational School, SPSL has become a pillar of education in the Sliabh Luachra community.
From its inception, SPSL has been dedicated to nurturing well-rounded student growth, promoting lifelong learning, achieving academic brilliance, and encouraging community engagement. The upcoming 25th-anniversary event aims to honor all the students and staff who have contributed to the school’s legacy over the years. Past and present students, along with community members, are invited to join in the special celebration scheduled for Saturday, April 27.
The event will bring together the inaugural group of students who entered SPSL in 1998, as well as former and current staff members, representatives from parents, students, and the Board of Management. Minister for Education, Norma Foley, will be a special guest at the commemoration. Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the school, which has undergone significant development with modern extensions added to the original building between 2015 and 2021.
SPSL has been at the heart of the local community for the past 25 years, and on April 27, the school will open its doors to the public from 12-2pm for a trip down memory lane. Principal Denis Kerins expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, highlighting the chance to reflect on the school’s achievements over the past quarter-century and look forward to the future.
