Salina, Kansas – Authorities in Saline County are currently investigating a brutal attack on a young woman that led to the arrest of a suspect involved in the incident.
The incident unfolded on the evening of July 6th when police responded to a call at a residence on Cloud Circle in Salina. Upon arrival, they discovered a 21-year-old woman with bloodstains on her shirt and a bloody nose. The victim informed law enforcement that she had been attacked and threatened by a man during a disturbance at the residence.
According to Salina Police Captain James Feldman, the victim identified the assailant as 20-year-old Christian Lasso Olivas. The altercation escalated when Olivas began yelling at the victim and proceeded to physically assault her, threatening to kill both her and her family.
Despite the victim’s attempts to defend herself, Olivas allegedly dragged her to another room and continued the assault, causing injuries that required medical attention. In a desperate attempt to escape, the victim grabbed a knife from the kitchen to protect herself from further harm.
Following the altercation, Olivas refused to return the victim’s phone and threatened her with more violence if she contacted the authorities. However, the victim managed to call 911 for assistance after injuring Olivas with the knife.
Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend Olivas without further incident. The victim was promptly transported to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of her injuries, while Olivas was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Saline County jail on multiple charges related to the incident.
The investigation into the attack is ongoing, as authorities work to gather more evidence and witness testimonies in order to bring justice to the victim and ensure the safety of the community.
