Road Rage Shooting Suspect Arrested in Surprise for Second-Degree Murder

Surprise, Arizona – An 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended in connection with a fatal road rage shooting that took place in Surprise on July 27, authorities revealed this past weekend. The suspect, identified as Jaidev Christian Spicely, fled the scene after the incident near 163rd and Grand avenues. Thanks to surveillance cameras in the area, officers were able to confirm Spicely as the alleged perpetrator in the shooting death of James Nicholas Solano-Aguilar, 33.

Law enforcement officers located Spicely at his residence, where he expressed his intention to surrender. Without any resistance, Spicely was taken into custody. The incident unfolded when police responded to reports of a shooting near the same intersection, finding community members providing aid to the victim, who had sustained multiple upper body gunshot wounds.

Following the victim’s transport to a nearby hospital, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries, Spicely was charged with second-degree murder, disorderly conduct with a weapon, and discharging a firearm within city limits. The Surprise Police Department declared their condolences to the Solano-Aguilar family and disclosed that the victim was an active military member. Resources are currently being coordinated for the family in collaboration with the victim’s branch of service.

Encouraging individuals to maintain composure when confronted with aggressive behavior on the road, the police department advises against engaging or retaliating with the aggressive driver. Instead, they advocate for focusing on safe driving practices and distancing oneself from potential confrontations.
