Assault at Pennbrook Middle School Leaves Student Hospitalized with Head Trauma

Upper Gwynedd, Pennsylvania – Authorities have provided more information regarding a violent incident at Pennbrook Middle School that left one student hospitalized with head injuries. According to police, the assault took place in the school cafeteria, involving a 13-year-old assailant and a 12-year-old victim. Upper Gwynedd Police Chief David Duffy described the attack as sudden, violent, and unprovoked, with the assailant striking the victim in the head with a Stanley tumbler.

The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they required staples to close lacerations on their head. The student is currently undergoing concussion protocol following the traumatic assault. Pennbrook Principal Nick Taylor promptly informed parents of the incident, assuring them that the school’s security and staff acted swiftly to address the situation.

Reports suggest that the assailant had previously been expelled from another district middle school. However, North Penn Superintendent Todd Bauer denied these claims, stating that the student was not expelled for violent behavior. The police are investigating whether the assailant has a history of juvenile criminal activity, although the student has not been taken into custody at this time.

In a statement to families, Bauer emphasized the importance of providing support to all those affected by the incident. The school district is working closely with law enforcement to understand the circumstances surrounding the assault and ensure the safety of all students. Rumors circulating about the other student involved in the incident have been dismissed as false.

As the community comes to terms with the shocking event, the school is focused on providing a safe and supportive environment for students and staff. Additional counselors will be available to support students in processing the incident, and measures will be taken to restore confidence in the school’s commitment to safety. Superintendent Bauer assures families that steps will be taken to address the incident, support healing, and collaborate with local authorities throughout the investigation.
