Assault in Bridgegate: Robbery Suspect Sought After Violent Shop Attack Leaves Worker Injured

Kilmarnock, Scotland – A violent robbery occurred Friday afternoon at a shop in the Bridgegate area, leaving a worker injured and shaken. The incident unfolded around 12:10 PM, when a man entered the store and assaulted the employee.

After the attack, the suspect gained access to the store’s safe and fled with a three-figure sum of money. Witnesses reported seeing the assailant move toward High Street, and then onto East Road shortly after the robbery.

The employee was subsequently treated for his injuries at Crosshouse Hospital. While his physical wounds were not serious, the emotional impact of the incident has left him deeply affected.

Prior to the crime, the suspect had been seen loitering in the vicinity for approximately 30 minutes. Descriptions gathered from witnesses indicate that he is a white male, standing around 6 feet tall with a stocky build. He was dressed in navy blue Nike tracksuit bottoms, a grey hooded sweatshirt, and distinctive two-tone trainers featuring a brightly colored sole.

To conceal his identity, he wore a patterned blue snood over his face, along with a black knitted hat adorned with a white logo. Authorities are urging anyone who may have seen a person matching this description before or after the incident to come forward.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Small emphasized the severity of the attack, characterizing it as a violent and sustained assault on someone simply performing their job. He mentioned that although the worker did not sustain life-threatening injuries, he is understandably traumatized by the experience.

Law enforcement is keen to gather any additional information from the public that may assist in their investigation. Individuals possessing dash cam footage from the area at the time of the robbery are particularly encouraged to review their recordings for any potential evidence.

Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact police at 101, citing reference number 1179 of January 30, 2026. The community remains on alert as authorities continue their search for the suspect.
