Attackers Arrested in Edmonton LRT Assault, Three Suspects Still at Large

Edmonton, Alberta – Following a violent attack on a senior at a downtown Edmonton LRT station, authorities have made significant progress in identifying and apprehending the suspects involved. The incident took place on February 24, 2024, at the ground level Churchill platform of the Valley Line LRT, where a 64-year-old man was brutally assaulted by a group of individuals.

According to the Edmonton Police Service, the victim was waiting for a train when he was approached by a male suspect, leading to a verbal altercation that escalated into a physical assault. The assailant knocked the senior to the ground and proceeded to attack him, with five other suspects joining in the robbery before fleeing the scene near city hall. Emergency Medical Services responded promptly, transporting the man to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

While three suspects have been identified and charged, three others remain at large, prompting authorities to seek the public’s assistance in locating them. Among those apprehended, Brady Rodney Desroches-Smith, 28, faces charges of aggravated assault and robbery, with additional warrants for first-degree murder issued by the Grande Prairie RCMP. Travis Damian Houle, 35, is charged with aggravated assault, robbery, and failure to comply with a probation order. Authorities have issued a warrant for Markus Lee Gladue, 21, for aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, and robbery.
