Campus Shooting Suspect Nicholas Jordan Appears in Court in Person, Students Speak Out about Safety Concerns

Colorado Springs, Colorado – Nicholas Jordan made his first appearance in court in connection to the shooting deaths of two individuals on the UCCS campus that occurred a week ago. Jordan is suspected of killing Samuel Knopp and Celie Montgomery in a dorm room following an argument over trash.

Students at UCCS have expressed concerns about their safety following the tragic incident. Laura Stephens, a classmate of Knopp, emphasized the impact of his death on the visual and performing arts department, where both had attended music classes together.

According to arrest papers, police responded to the scene after receiving a call from one of Knopp’s roommates who reported hearing gunshots. It was revealed that Knopp and his roommate had previously filed complaints about Jordan regarding marijuana use and cleanliness issues.

The discovery of guns in Jordan’s possession three days later raised further alarm among students, with many feeling uneasy and unsafe during that period. Despite the unsettling circumstances, authorities have assured the community that any potential threat would have been promptly communicated to ensure public safety.

11 News reached out to UCCS for additional information but was informed that details about the individuals involved could not be disclosed. The university declined to discuss campus safety and security at this time but reiterated their ongoing efforts to enhance security measures on campus.

As the investigation into the tragic event continues, UCCS students and faculty are coming together to mourn the loss of Knopp and Montgomery while advocating for a safer campus environment to prevent similar incidents in the future. The community remains vigilant and supportive as they navigate through this challenging time.
