The incident unfolded on the evening of November 23, when 31-year-old Alex Lutz, who serves with the Highland Beach Fire Rescue, reportedly reacted with aggression after the youths engaged in a doorbell-ringing trick known as “ding dong ditch.”
According to the Lighthouse Point Police Department, Lutz became enraged when the teenagers, riding in a golf cart, rang his doorbell and fled. He is accused of emerging from his residence wielding a baseball bat in pursuit of the teens, leading to a chaotic scene. Witnesses captured footage that allegedly documented Lutz’s aggressive behavior, including threats he made and the distress of the young individuals involved.
The attack resulted in injuries for several teenagers, prompting a swift investigation by local authorities. Police officials reported that Lutz struck both the victims and the golf cart with the bat, raising concerns about the severity of the altercation.
