ICE Supervisor Faces Serious Charges After Violent Domestic Assault Incident

CINCINNATI — A supervisor at the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) field office faces serious allegations following an incident involving domestic violence. Samuel L. Saxon, 47, was arrested last week and is charged with multiple offenses, including felonious assault and strangulation, stemming from an alleged attack on a woman he cohabits with.

Authorities report that a Hamilton County grand jury has indicted Saxon on four counts, which include an additional count of strangulation. He entered a not guilty plea during his initial arraignment. Saxon has not made a public statement through his attorney, who indicated a willingness to refrain from commenting until more details emerged.

The case has raised eyebrows, particularly regarding Saxon’s position within ICE. Local law enforcement officials initially referred to him as an “ICE agent,” but later clarified his actual title as the Assistant Field Office Director for ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations in Cincinnati. As of now, neither ICE nor the Department of Homeland Security has provided any updates on Saxon’s employment status or commented more broadly on the situation.

Witness accounts have painted a troubling picture of the alleged attack. On December 5, a neighbor reported hearing screams coming from Saxon’s apartment. The individual later observed Saxon dragging the victim in a chokehold down the hallway. This unsettling scene was recorded audio-wise by the witness, who subsequently alerted the police. Upon their arrival, officials found evidence of injuries consistent with strangulation and other harm on the victim, which contributed to the decision to detain Saxon.

Court records reveal that this incident may not be isolated. Police indicated that there have been 22 prior calls for service to the couple’s residence over a span of 18 months. Following this latest incident, a protection order has been granted to maintain distance between Saxon and the victim. While the victim has not cooperated with investigations, the neighbor who witnessed the attack is cooperating with authorities.

In light of the serious nature of the charges against him, a judge set bail at $10,500 for the domestic violence and strangulation charges; however, Saxon remains incarcerated due to a no-bond order related to the felonious assault charge. This decision was made at the behest of prosecutors who argue that the evidence is substantial and concerning.

Complicating matters further, a separate police report from the Blue Ash Police Department shows that the victim had previously sought assistance related to her relationship with Saxon just days before the alleged violent incident. In that report, she presented medical documents indicating past injuries likely linked to abuse, including bruises and ligature marks.

As the case unfolds, it continues to attract scrutiny, not just for its domestic violence implications but also due to Saxon’s federal position. The circumstances surrounding his arrest and the subsequent lack of communication from ICE have left many questions unanswered, prompting calls for more transparency regarding the agency’s personnel and policies in such troubling circumstances.

Saxon’s next court appearance is set for Friday, where the legal proceedings will continue to unfold amid growing public interest in the case.
