Machete Attack: Melbourne Man Slashed and Beaten in Brutal Daylight Ambush

Melbourne, Australia – A brutal attack in broad daylight left a 21-year-old man, Chol Yai, slashed and beaten with multiple weapons, including a machete and a hammer, in Melbourne’s west. The violent incident occurred around 5pm on Sunday, and Yai was chased across Elpis Rd, Weir Views before being attacked in a garden outside a McDonald’s outlet.

CCTV footage from a nearby home captured the group of about four men chasing the young man and the horrified reaction of neighbors. The residents who witnessed the attack ran over to provide first aid, springing into action when they saw Yai lying injured in the bushes.

Yai suffered serious injuries to his head, back, and arm, with his right arm cut down to the bone. He was rushed to the Royal Melbourne Hospital where he underwent surgery, and he remains in a serious condition.

The victim’s mother, Teresa Garang, told reporters her son had been out shopping for food when he was attacked and has no idea why he was targeted. Yai, herself, does not know the attackers. Police are investigating the incident, but the victim has chosen not to cooperate.

The offenders were seen traveling in a black sedan, but neither the car nor the perpetrators have been found. “At this stage no arrests have been made, but police are searching the area and investigations are ongoing,” Victoria Police said.

The violent and unprovoked nature of the attack has shocked the community and left many questioning the safety of the neighborhood. Eyewitnesses are urged to come forward with any information related to the attack to assist police in their ongoing investigation.

This vicious assault has left the community in disbelief and has highlighted the importance of safety and security in the area. The authorities are working diligently to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safety of the residents.
