Reading, United Kingdom – A man, Lucio Moreira, 31, has been sentenced to six years in prison after assaulting a victim by slashing his face with a knife and chasing him down in Reading.
The incident took place on September 30, 2023, around 10:45 pm while the victim was walking along Oxford Road. Moreira pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent during a previous court hearing on April 19.
Detective Constable Philip Marchant, of Reading CID, described the attack as a violent assault that left the victim with serious injuries. Moreira’s actions were condemned by the detective as a disturbing display of violence that has no place in the community.
Following the incident, the victim sustained a facial wound, which led to Moreira’s arrest and subsequent charge on November 1, 2023.
