Las Vegas, Nevada – A tragic incident unfolded at the Venicia Apartments in the southwest valley on Tuesday afternoon, as a man was shot and killed by an assailant in what appears to be a random attack. The victim, who was working with his brother in a cleaning business, was found next to a white van near the complex’s entrance by Las Vegas police around 4 p.m.
Despite authorities’ attempts to save the victim, he succumbed to his injuries later at University Medical Center. Witnesses at the scene described the shooter as a person with facial tattoos and carrying numerous bags, who fled from the complex’s front entrance. However, patrol officers were able to apprehend the suspect in a nearby neighborhood, revealing that the perpetrator was a woman.
The investigation unveiled that the suspect had been inside the complex without residency, reportedly attempting to break into vehicles. The victim and his brother, both working in a carpet cleaning company, were sitting inside their white van conducting an estimate when the suspect swiftly approached the vehicle, pulled out a handgun, and fatally shot the driver.
Authorities emphasized that there was no prior interaction between the victim and the suspect, indicating that the shooting was entirely spontaneous. The suspect, identified as a woman in her twenties, has a criminal record, according to Metropolitan Police Department Lt. Jason Johansson.
Tragically, a family member of the victim expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting the impact on their family, particularly their mother’s imminent visit from El Salvador. The name of the cleaning business, Immaculate Restoration and Carpet Care, was prominently displayed on the side of the white van involved in the incident.
