Brutal Attack Leads to Permanent Exclusion of Upper Hutt College Students

Upper Hutt, New Zealand – Following a recent brutal attack on a senior student at Upper Hutt College, two junior students have been expelled from the school. The incident, which was captured on video and circulated online, has sparked outrage and raised concerns about the safety and well-being of students at the school.

The attack, which took place last week, prompted the school to suspend the two students involved. After a meeting of the board disciplinary committee, it was decided that the students would be permanently excluded from the school. Principal Judith Taylor emphasized that the decision was made to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for all students and teachers at the college.

In addition to the expulsion of the two students, the college is now legally obligated to make arrangements for them to enroll at another school. If unsuccessful, the Ministry of Education will take over the process. The school is also addressing the involvement of other students who either filmed the incident or encouraged the attack.

Taylor expressed gratitude to the parents and caregivers who showed support for the victim and her family. She also confirmed that the victim has returned to school and is surrounded by caring individuals as she settles back in. Despite the incident, Taylor maintains that Upper Hutt College is a safe school but urges parents to talk to their children about the sharing of harmful images online and to encourage students experiencing harm to speak up.

To further address safety concerns, the school has launched an anonymous online reporting system and is actively following up on reports received. The incident has not only prompted disciplinary actions but has also brought attention to the importance of creating a supportive and safe environment for all students.
