Murder Charges Filed Against Two Men in L.A. Live Restaurant Shooting

Los Angeles, California – Two men are facing murder charges in connection with the shooting death of Sidney Barrett Morris, 43, at Fixins Soul Kitchen in downtown Los Angeles. Phillip Pasco Clark, 33, and Santana Jermaine Kelly, 50, have each been charged with murder and conspiracy to commit a crime in the case. Kelly also faces an additional charge of arson of property of another.

The incident occurred on November 28 when Morris was dining alone at the popular restaurant at L.A. Live. According to authorities, Clark entered the restaurant and directly targeted Morris, fatally shooting him before fleeing in a getaway car driven by an unidentified individual.

Both Clark and Kelly pleaded not guilty at their arraignment and are currently being held on bail. Prosecutors allege that Kelly assisted in planning the shooting and attempted to destroy evidence by setting fire to the getaway car the day after the killing.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, but the owners of Fixins Soul Kitchen expressed shock and sadness over the incident, extending their condolences to Morris’ family and loved ones. The restaurant is owned by former NBA player and Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.

LA County District Attorney Gascón condemned the shooting, emphasizing Morris’ dedication to fostering inclusivity and harmony in society. Gascón reassured the public of their commitment to holding those responsible for the crime accountable.

A preliminary hearing for Clark and Kelly is scheduled for April 25 as the investigation into the tragic incident continues. As the community mourns the loss of Sidney Barrett Morris, authorities are working diligently to bring justice to the victim and his loved ones.
