Stabbing Rampage Leaves Four Dead and Seven Injured in Rockford, Illinois

Rockford, Illinois – A stabbing rampage in Rockford, Illinois on Wednesday afternoon left four people dead and seven others injured. The victims included a 15-year-old girl, a 63-year-old woman, a 49-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man, according to a news release from the Rockford Police Department. The injured individuals were taken to local hospitals with serious injuries, as stated by the police.

During a news conference, Police Chief Carla Redd described the incident as a “multi-jurisdictional event” and mentioned that one of the injured individuals was in critical condition. Winnebago County Sheriff Gary Caruana shared details about a woman who was injured during a home invasion, stating that she was in serious condition at a hospital.

A male who came to the woman’s aid was also stabbed but was reported to be in good condition after being checked out at the hospital. The suspect, a 22-year-old male, was apprehended by authorities at 1:35 p.m. following the incident. Authorities do not believe there are any other suspects at large, according to information disclosed during the news conference.

The Rockford Police statement mentioned that the incident involved multiple addresses and that officers responded promptly. A vigil for the victims is scheduled for Thursday afternoon to support the affected families and honor the victims of the violent attacks.
