Threatening Online Document Prompts Felony Charges for Third Student in Fort Worth Middle School Attack Plan

Fort Worth, Texas – A third student in a far north Fort Worth middle school faces charges for creating and editing an online document outlining a planned attack against students and staff, officials from the Northwest Independent School District reported.

After a concerned parent’s tip on May 1st, school officials discovered a disturbing document that detailed plans to attack Wilson Middle School, listing 25 students and seven staff members as targets. Following an investigation, two students were arrested with pending felony charges. Subsequently, a third student was found to be involved in crafting the threatening document.

All three students now face felony charges of making terroristic threats. The district’s Discipline Management Plan specifies that students implicated in such threats can be placed in the District Alternative Education Program for up to 60 days for a first offense.

In response to the incident, the district announced that all Northwest ISD schools will conduct threat assessment reviews before allowing students involved in making terroristic threats to return to campus. Going forward, an armed security guard will be stationed at Wilson Middle School to monitor the halls and surrounding areas for the rest of the school year. Additionally, a Fort Worth Police Department school resource officer will be present on campus.

Counselors will be available at Wilson Middle School to provide support to students, parents, and staff. Students who missed school days due to safety concerns will have those absences excused. Any suspicious activities should be reported promptly to school administrators or staff. Concerns can also be raised anonymously through the district’s tip line.

Northwest ISD serves students not only in far north Fort Worth but also in 13 other surrounding communities, ensuring a safe and secure learning environment for all its students.
