Tragedy: Lakewood Murder-Suicide Claims Three Lives, Including 17-Year-Old Girl

LAKEWOOD, Calif. — A tragic incident unfolded Thursday morning when a triple shooting claimed the lives of a 17-year-old girl and two adults in a residential neighborhood. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding what officials have described as a murder-suicide.

City Councilmember Todd Rogers shared details, confirming the nature of the shooting but did not elaborate on how the event transpired. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene around 7:55 a.m. after receiving reports of an assault with a deadly weapon on Lorelei Avenue, near South Street.

Upon arrival, deputies encountered a visibly distressed woman outside the home. Inside, they discovered the bodies of the teenage girl, alongside a man and a woman, all believed to be related. Lieutenant Daniel Vizcarra from the Sheriff’s Department stated that it remains unclear which individual fired the weapon or if all three lived at the residence.

The distressed woman, who was not identified, did not suffer any injuries and was brought in for questioning. While she is related to the victims, investigators clarified that she was neither a suspect nor a person of interest. A firearm was recovered from the home, supporting the ongoing investigation into the incident.

Emergency personnel cleared the scene by 8:51 a.m., and no individuals were transported to the hospital according to a representative from the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Although the situation was dire, officials assured the community that there was no immediate threat to public safety and no suspects were outstanding.

Rogers emphasized on social media that local residents should feel secure, and Capt. Daniel Holguin echoed that sentiment, remarking on the tragedy’s impact on Lakewood, a city known for its safety. He affirmed that it appeared to be an isolated incident rather than a broader security concern.
